Jeanie Marie Buss was born in the United States. She is currently the president and the controlling owner of Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association. A California native, Buss grew up in an affluent family. The father of her Jerry Buss was a real-estate tycoon who later became the proprietor of the Lakers and other sports businesses. The couple divorced in 1972, which caused her to feel emotionally left behind. Her family's business was started at the age of 19 as general manager for the Los Angeles Strings tennis team. In the future she founded her own Los Angeles Blades pro roller hockey team. She held the position of president of Great Western Forum prior to being elected vice-president of the Lakers. Her father passed away in 2013, and his control over control of the Lakers was inherited by Buss and her five siblings via a trust for the family which gave each sibling the same vote. She took on the role as president of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss co-owns Women of Wrestling an pro-wrestling promotion company that is based in Los Angeles.
